The Essential PhotoCast Video Journal #001

October 10, 2008

A quick video showing the photography gear that we will be taking on our Fall Color shoot tomorrow.

Unpacking of Gear video

Fall colors

October 5, 2008

Here are two of my favorite images that I shot this weekend. I shot these earlier this afternoon around 12:30. Saturday was “official” fall color shoot, but the weather was not cooperating. It rained on and off most of the day.

I hope to shoot a few more images today!

Travis.

Fall color “shoot” tomorrow

October 3, 2008

Even though tomorrow is supposed to be a bit chilly (highs only in the upper 40’s to low 50’s). We are going to get our gear set up and head out around our area to find some very interesting fall colors. Hopefully, we will have enough time to post some images on here after we get back from shooting. I (Travis) plan on bringing my Canon 40D with a 70-200mm 2.8 lens. Bob plans on bringing his Canon EOS 1D Mark IIn with a 70-200mm 2.8 as well. Fall colors are very interesting in infrared also, so I might experiment a little with that too.

Look for some images on here in the next day (and on our Flickr account) plus we will be updating our Twitter account as we are shooting.

Happy Shooting and Best Regards,

Travis.

The Eagles of Homer-A Story inspired by Jean Keene

September 30, 2008

The video above is about the “Homer Eagle Lady” (Jean Keene). It’s an awesome video about how she got started with the eagles and where it is at today.

The Essential PhotoCast 1.1…

September 29, 2008

Ok, I just recently finished most of the new Essential PhotoCast 1.1 editing. Tommorow night or Wednesday morning the show should be live on iTunes and on our PhotoCast Page for direct download. This is still one of our first episodes so I will admit it’s kind of rocky, but as we go on and upgrade our equipment I think it will get better.

Thank for your support!

Travis.

Polar Fleece covers are now online!

September 29, 2008

Our new Polar Fleece camera/lens cover is now available on Essential Photo Gear.

These were created by Charles Glatzer, host and owner of Shoot The Light, Instructional Photographic Workshops. They are great for on-the-go storage if you don’t have your camera bag readily available. You can toss in your camera body (without lens attached), a converter, or small lens. Plus you can use it to cover your 400, 500, 600mm lens, so dust (or any type of debris) cannot contact the lens.

Plus be sure to check out our revolutionary Apex Tripod Belt!

Essential PhotoCast video journals coming soon

September 28, 2008

I’d like to announce that we are going start making video journals! These video journals will be recorded in the field when we go out “shooting” and hopefully we can convey some great tips and tricks along the way.

Best Regards,

Travis Peltz.

More infrared images….

September 27, 2008

Here is another infrared image. Created in Photoshop.

Infrared obsession

September 27, 2008

The image above is a low-res image of a dead standing timber I took earlier today. I now find myself looking for cool images that I can convert into infrared via photoshop. Now I know that this isn’t a true infrared image, but it is as close as I can get without buying a infrared filter (although I do plan on buying one now). I can blame my new obsession on Kieth, our new co-host of the Essential PhotoCast who introduced this new facinating way of photography.
